LAM TO LINER

A special booklet label construction that is designed to work well on round containers. It’s comprised of an offset printed booklet or pamphlet laminated to a die cut pressure sensitive label just like our standard booklet labels with one major exception: The laminate on one side extends beyond the base label to lay directly on the carrier liner. As this booklet label is applied, the extended laminate opens slightly eliminating tension as it is formed around and pressed down on the curved surface. With no tension, the booklet label applies smoothly with no bubbles. It is also much easier to open. Medical companies (who use a lot of round containers) really love this design. You need to see the pictures to truly understand the concept. All other specs are the same as the booklet/foldout/extended content labels above. Two dies are required. This label must be applied with the folded or bound edge first. A special (optional) “zig-zag” die cut is available to ensure that the lot and date codes stay with the product if the booklet is removed. Hand or machine applied.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE A STANDARD FOLDOUT LABEL ON A SMALL ROUND CONTAINER.

This is a picture showing why you shouldn’t use a standard foldout label on tight curves. The lamination forms a bump (see arrow) as the booklet label is applied to the containers. The bump creates an ugly crushed wing. Moreover, the wing has so much tension that it becomes stiff and often will lift days after application. When we use the “glued booklet label”, the “baseless” or “lam to liner” constructions, the tension is removed and the booklet label lays down smoothly. Our products for curved surfaces open easier and apply much better with automatic label equipment.
